Til ke laddu (sesame seeds) is the prasad for Makar Sankranti. Makar Sankranti is celebrated in almost all parts of India with great devotion, zest & gaiety. It is a harvest festival. It is the beginning of the season of blossoms, happiness & joy. The day is believed to mark the arrival of spring in India.
Til (sesame) hot in nature & used for preparing sweets in winter season & laddu is the most popular preparation. Til ke Laddu is the special recipe of Makar Sankaranti made with sesame seed, jaggery & ghee.
Til ke laddu is a very easy & simple recipe packed with all the essentials to keep you healthy specially in winter.
Ingredients:
250 gms til (sesame seeds)
200 gms gud (jaggery)
1 tbsp ghee (clarified butter)
1/2 tsp cardamom powder (optional)
Method:
2. Heat ghee in a pan, add jaggery & cook till jaggery caramelised
& form a hard ball when you add a drop in cold water.
3. Next grind sesame seeds but don't make a powder.
4. Add sesame seeds, cardamom powder into jaggery & mix well.
5. Transfer this mixture into a large plate. Let it cool.
6. Grease your palms with ghee, divide mixture into equal portions,
shape mixture into round balls or laddu.
7. Til Ke Laddu are ready for Makar Sankaranti.
