Chakli
Chakli a very popular snack usually made during festive season in every house specially in Maharashtra. Diwali feast is almost incomplete with out this home made savory, crispy dish.
Every one has their own method of preparing this crunchy snack & the end result is a delicious product. Ingredients required include rice, moong daal, urad daal, chana daal, chili powder, cumin seeds, sesame seeds, oil & salt.
Nothing can beat the taste of home made chakli. A must try recipe!!
Ingredients:
For chakli atta (flour):
6 cups rice
3 cups chana dal (bengal gram)
1 1/2 cups dhuli urad dal (black gram skinless)
3/4 cup dhuli moong dal (green gram skinless)
2 tbsp coriander seeds
For chakli atta (flour):
For dough:
3 cups chakli ka atta
1/4 tsp turmeric powder
1 tbsp red chili powder
1 tbsp oil for dough
2 tbsp sesame seeds
1 tsp cumin seeds
Oil to deep fry
Salt to taste
Method:
For chakli atta (flour):
1. To prepare chakli atta, roast the dals & rice separately on a low flame.
2. Mix the dals, rice & coarsely grind them. Chakli atta (flour) is ready.
For chakli:
1. In a bowl take chakli atta, add red chili powder, turmeric powder, sesame seeds, cumin
seeds, salt & mix well.
2. Then add oil & mix well now adding a little water knead a very soft dough.
3. Leave it aside for 25-30 minutes.
4. Put dough in chakli mould, make chaklis on a piece of paper.
5. Heat sufficient oil in a pan till moderately hot.
6. Deep fry chaklis to a light golden brown & crisp.
7. Drain on an absorbent paper & allow to cool.
8. Store chaklis on airtight container.
