Navratri is celebrated all over India with much pomp & reverence. The essence of this festival lies in faith & glorification of the nine aspects of Durga, one on each of the nine days.during Navratri nine forms of Shakti are worshiped.

Along with Navratri comes the fast & fasting food, During the nine days
of Navratri feasting & fasting take precedence over all normal daily activities. People observe fast during Navratri & cook different kind of dishes which are common during fasting.

I am posting the recipe of "Dry Fruit Kheer" which is one of the simple & healthy dish. This dish has a high energy content, so helpful during fasting.Dry fruit kheer is a savory mix of creamy milk with tidbits of crunchy, chewy dried fruits & nuts.It is delicious by itself.

Dry fruit kheer is a nice, sweet, nutritious & delightful recipe which is so simple, easy & quick to make.

Ingredients:

1 liter milk

10-12 strands saffron , soaked in 1 tsp hot milk

10-12 cashew nuts

10-12 almonds 

10-12 pistachios 

10-12 chironji 

10-12 walnuts 

1/4 tsp cardamom powder

1/2 cup sugar

2-4 rose petals

Method:

1. Chop almonds, cashew nuts, pistachios, walnuts.

2. Heat ghee & fry all the dry fruits till golden

3. Boil milk in a heavy bottom pan & reduce it to 3/4.

4. Add the fried dry fruits,saffron strands to the milk & boil it for
    another 5-7 mins.

5. Add sugar, cardamom powder mix well & boil for some time.
    Switch off the heat.

6. Garnish with rose petals & serve chill.
