Lauki Halwa


Lauki Halwa is a traditional, simple, quick & healthy dessert. It is also known as doodhi halwa or bottle gourd halwa. This  mouthwatering & creamy sweet dish mostly prepared during fasting days like Navaratri/ Shrawan.


Lauki Halwa


Lauki Hawla is a quick & easy home made sweet. The main ingredients are lauki, milk, sugar, cardamom & dry fruits.

Ingredients:


2 cups grated lauki (bottle gourd/doodhi)
3 cups milk
1/2 cup sugar
1 tsp cardamom powder
3-4 cashew nut chopped
3-4 almond chopped
1 tbsp ghee

Method:


1. Heat ghee in a pan, add grated lauki & saute for 5 mins

2. Add milk, bring it to a boil, simmer for 30-35 minutes, stir occasionally.

3. When halwa is almost dry, add sugar & mix well.

4. Stir till the moisture has evaporated.

5. Add cardamom powder, cashew nut, almond & mix well.

6. Transfer to serving bowl, garnish with almond & cashew nuts.

7. Serve hot or cold as desired.
