Celebrate this Republic Day with delicious, nutritious & very attractive Tri Color Healthy idli made with spinach, carrot, rice, urad dal..... all  healthy & easily available ingredients. Tri Color Healthy idli is a colorful variation to the traditional steamed Idli. Kids would love it.


Ingredients:


2 cups idli batter
2 tbsp spinach puree
2 tbsp carrot puree
Oil for greasing
Salt to taste

Method:


1. Take idli batter in a bowl, add salt, mix well.

2. Divide the idli batter in three equal portion in three different bowls.

3. Add carrot puree in one portion of batter for orange color idli & mix well

4. Add spinach puree in another portion of batter for green color idli, Mix it well too

5. Leave third portion of batter for white color idli.

6. Now grease idli moulds with oil, fill idli moulds with the all three color batters separately.

7. Steam idlis for 10-12 mins.Take out idli moulds from idli pan, let it cool for 2-3 mins.

8. Take out the idlis from the mould. Tri color healthy idlis are ready.

9. Serve tri color healthy idlis with sambar & coconut chutney.

( Sesame Seeds Chikki )


Makar Sankranti marks the transition of the Sun into the zodiac sign of Makara rashi on its celestial path. The day is believed to mark the arrival of spring in India. It is also called 'Til Sankranti'. A variety of delicious til sweets are prepared on the occasion of Makar Sankranti like chikki, laddu, gajak, burfi etc.

Distributing & consuming til sweets on Makar Sankranti is a ritual. Sesame seeds are an excellent source of vitamin, protein & fiber.



Til Chikki



Til Chikki is a nutritious, tasty winter recipe. It is a combination of sesame seeds & sugar. It tastes awesome, easy & quick to prepare & perfect for this festive season!



Ingredients:


1 cup til (sesame seeds)
1 cup sugar
1-2 tbsp ghee
1 tsp cardamom powder
Water as required


Method:


1. Heat pan, roast sesame seeds till they are light golden in color.
    Turn off the heat & allow them to cool.


2. Grind sesame seeds but do not make powder.

3. Mix sugar & water, make sugar syrup of 2 wire consistency.

4. Now add cardamom powder, ghee & sesame seeds in sugar syrup.

5. Mix it well, pour it in greased plate,

6. Cut the chikki immediately into desired shape.

7. Let it cool, store it in air tight container.
