Ganesh Chaturthi  is one of the very popular Hindu festivals celebrated in India with a great devotion specially in the Maharashtra. This day is celebrated as the birthday of Lord Ganesh, the younger son of Lord Shiva & Goddess Parvati. Lord Ganesh is the symbol of wisdom, prosperity and good fortune. Ganesh Chathurthi is also known as Vinayaka Chaturthi.


Different Kinds Of  Modaks Prepared During Ganesh Festival


Ganesh Chaturthi is a ten-day Hindu festival celebrated to honour the Lord Ganesh.It is observed by installing Lord Ganesha's idols at homes for ten days, worshiping them &
then finally immersing them in water. 
From Lord Ganesha's Isthapna to Visarjan, devotees offer various sweets and savouries to the deity, amongst which modaks & laddus make for the most prominent prasad of the festival, modak is believed to be Ganesha's favourite food, & hence he is also known as Modakapriya, someone who likes modak.

Ganesh Chaturthi  is one of the important Hindu festivals celebrated throughout India with a great devotion. This day is celebrated as the birthday of Lord Ganesh. Lord Ganesha love sweets especially "Modak"  Lord Ganesha is also called ‘Modakpriya’, which means one who loves Modaks. It is said that worship of Ganesha is incomplete without Modaks. 

Modak is a very popular dish prepared during Ganesh festival. Modaks are offered to the Ganpati Bappa & then served as Prasad to the devotees. Ukadiche modak, coconut modak, dry fruit modak, chocolate modakrava modak, mango modak, motichoor modak, mawa modak, malai modak, paneer modak,fried modak, til modak, kesar modak.......a variety of modaks are there. I am adding one more in this long list of modaks ......"Churma Modak" which you can make for Prasad during this Ganesh festival.

Churma modak a sweet made of whole wheat flour, jagerry/sugar, ghee & dry fruits Churma modak is really an amazing & delicious recipe which is easy to prepare. It is very good for kids........I am sure you will love it.

Some other sweets you can prepare during Ganesh Festival are.......Motichoor Laddu,

Ingredients:

2 cups whole wheat flour
2 cups powdered sugar
2 tbsp ghee
1 tsp cardamom powder
2 tbsp cashew nut, almond chopped
1 cup ghee
Water as required

Method:


1. In a big bowl add wheat flour, 2 tbsp ghee & mix well.

2. Make a soft dough using enough water.

3. Knead the dough & divide it in to apple size portion.

4. Make a bati/ball out of each portion.

5. Now bake this batis/balls in a preheated oven on 250°C for 20-25 mins.
    If you want you can deep fry these batis/balls in ghee.


6. Take out batis/balls from oven.let it cool a bit & grind them into coarse powder or churma.

7. Add powdered sugar, cardamom powder, ghee, cashew nut, almond to churma
    & mix well.


8. Finally give churma the shape of modak with modak mould.


9. Churma Modaks are ready to offer to Lord Ganesha on the auspicious occasion
    of Ganesh Chaturthi.
